Day 1: Cardiff to Brecon

The expectation for the first day was that this would be a long but fairly easy day. How wrong we were.

The weather was fairly accommodating with a combination of drizzle and sunshine. However, we hit a number of mechanical issues [three punctures] and a painful re-route enforced by the heads of the valley road works.

The surfaces were varied and in the most cases good, however there was some difficult muddy off-road sections between Pontypridd and Merthyr Tydfill.

The hardest part of the day surprisingly, was the downhill towards the Talybont reservoir, which was a complete disc pad killer. More to follow on that in future days…
